a visit to La De Da...

Rack of goodies at La De Da

layering has been an art for many years...

Welcome to La De Da

Located on a corner in the downtown, I have frequented this store for many years, when I visit with my college room mate who lives in the area.  She waits patiently as I slowly go through the racks once, twice, maybe more, looking for a treasure to bring home.  This store has been layering their pieces from the beginning and it is an art form here rather than the current trend. I always enjoy viewing the displays and getting ideas on how I can put outfits together.

The staff are warm and welcoming and happy to help or lay back if you just want to browse.  When I asked about featuring them in my blog, a quick call to the owner, Carole Hughes, resulted in a positive reply.  I took the pictures myself and apologize for the glare/reflections.  Shopping online is not a reality yet.  The staff is considering it but are concerned as they receive only a limited number of each piece.  It is the fact that the store stocks this way that appeals to many - you will not see yourself coming and going with your selection.

The store has clothing, shoes, bags, scarves galore, and a wide selection of jewelry. The most recognized brand is Free People and their clothing leans towards the boho side of fashion. But there is variety at La De Da and the price point is reasonable.  Example:  I purchased a great pair of cropped wide leg clay-colored linen pants, originally priced at $84.00, on sale for $67.00.  Almost everyone leaves with one of their distinctive shopping bags with purple flowers and black cloth handles, including me!

So if you are in the area, definitely make a stop.  Otherwise, check out their website and their page on facebook.  If something strikes you, call the store and they will be glad to assist you.
