My husband and I attended the Vegetarian Festival, sponsored by veggiefest.org, this past Saturday at Bryan Park in RVA. We arrived around 3 pm with our pup, Max, who was a bit overwhelmed by all the people and other dogs.
We strolled the food tents and my husband choose Ethiopian food from The Nile and I went with African food from Africanne on Main. Both were good. I ran into my intrepid camera coach, Brian McDaniel, a fellow vegetarian and volunteer for the event.
We listened to the band for a while and then I went back for a dessert from DeLuca Gelato. I was already a fan and they didn't fail me. Mango gelato was cooling and tangy on a sunny day.
We looked at the other tents featuring green products as well as those that protect animals. I saw our vet, Dr. Marissa Gonzalez, from Lakeside Animal Hospital and we chatted. Of course, I remembered that Max is overdue for a visit.
We enjoyed ourselves and plan to go again next year...
